Welcome to the official home of the Lake Charles Gumbeaux Gators, the latest addition to the Texas Collegiate League (TCL) for the 2024 season. Joining as the sixth team in the league, the Gumbeaux Gators mark a significant expansion for TCL, enhancing its presence in Louisiana alongside the Baton Rouge Rougarous and the Acadiana Cane Cutters.
The Gumbeaux Gators are set to play a 48-game season, including 24 home games at Joe Miller Ballpark, located on the campus of McNeese State University in Lake Charles. The 2024 season, starting May 30 and concluding on July 28, promises to deliver an exhilarating minor league baseball experience for both players and fans.
The Gumbeaux Gators showcase top-tier talent from Southwest Louisiana and beyond, featuring a diverse roster of 30 players from Division I, II, III, and Junior Colleges. The TCL is known for being a hotbed for major league scouts and offers an exceptional platform for underclass collegiate baseball players to hone their skills during the summer.
Sam Moore, currently the director of sports relations at Visit Lake Charles, serves as the general manager, overseeing the roster, players, sponsorships, and day-to-day operations.
Season tickets and various packages will be available soon. For those unable to attend in person, a streaming service with season passes will bring the action right to your screens.
Since its establishment, the TCL has been a breeding ground for talent, with over 300 TCL players drafted by major league teams and no fewer than 20 making it to the big leagues. The league’s commitment to providing a wholesome, minor league-type atmosphere using wooden bats aligns with its mission of offering quality, inexpensive entertainment in a distinctly Southern, intimate atmosphere while promoting the game of baseball in the communities involved.
